Our first grade students had a stellar treat on Wednesday!
As part of their study of space and our solar system, students welcomed a very special guest, Mrs. Pandoff, wife of our 6th-grade teacher Mr. Pandoff. She shared her exciting experience graduating from an astronaut training program through a joint NASA & Honeywell program.
Our 6th-grade students helped kick things off with an amazing demonstration showing the scale of the solar system and how the planets compare to the sun. Then Mrs. Pandoff wowed our first graders with photos and videos from her training adventures, including a water evacuation from a "crash-landed helicopter" and being rescued from the ocean after a capsule recovery.
What an unforgettable day of learning, curiosity, and inspiration for our young 1st-grade panthers.
